Report on an Ordinance intituled an Ordinance to provide for the incorporation of the Mother Superioress in this Colony of the Society of the "Daughters of Charity of the Canossian Institute" by which the institution known as the Italian

Convent is carried on,

The object of this ordinance is to provide for the incorporation of the other Superioress in this Colony of the Society of the "Daughters of Charity of the Canoesian Institute" for the purpose of enabling that Society more conveniently to hold and deal with lease- hold property in the Colony. It follows more or less closely the pr ents of previous Ordinances passed

incorporating other religious or

for the purpo

charitable bodies.

Section I is formal.

Section 2 is in a common form.

Section 3 sets out the powers of the corporation more or less in accordance with previous precedets Section 4 is similar to the vesting clauses in the Saint John's Cathedral Church Ordinance, 1899, the Zetland Hall Trustees Incorporation Ordinance, 1915, and the Soeurs de Saint Paul de Chartres Incorporation Ordinance, 1915.

Section 5 deals with execution of documents.

Section 6 recognises the present other Superioress and provides for the notification of the appointment of future other Superioresses,

Section 7 is the usual saving clause.

In my opinion this is an Ordinance to which His Ex- cellency the Governor may properly assent in the name of His Majesty and on His behalf.

I certify that adequate and timely notification was made

of the intention of the parties concerned to apply to the Legislative Council of Hongkong for an Ordinance styled *An Ordi- -nance to provide for the incorporation of the Mother Superioress in this Colony of the Society of the "Daughters of Charity of the Canossian Institute" by which the institution know as the Italian Convent is carried on", before the same was brought into the Legislative Council. Such notification was made in the manner

following:-

Notification of the intention of the parties to apply for the said Ordinance was advertised in two issues of the Government Gazette on the 1st. and 8th. October, 1915, and in two issues of an English Newspaper circulating in the Colony, namely,

A *The Hongkong Daily Press" on the 2nd. end 9th. October, 1915. draft of the proposed said Ordinance was further published in one issue of the Government Gazette on the 8th. October, 1915.

A proof of the notification was made before me in

Executive Council.
